Shana Kelly, M.S., CCC-SLP

Shana graduated with a Bachelor of Science (1996) from the University of Washington and holds a Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology (1999) from Idaho State University. She has worked with children from six months to 21 years of age in home-based, clinical, and school settings serving children with mild to severe communication differences and disorders.

 

Shana strives to meet the needs of each individual client, which is what led her to the development of social skills groups with Heather Browne, M.S., OTR/L. She has incorporated her years of experience working with the pediatric population, as well as techniques from many continuing education courses into her daily treatment with her clients, such as PROMPT, Bechman, and RDI training.

 

Shana believes in facilitating functional communication skills within the child's natural language environments. She is available for consultation and treatment sessions within the home, school, and/or daycare. She welcomes ideas, thoughts, strategies, and techniques from other professionals, parents, and teachers to best meet the needs of the children and families with whom she works.

Noreen Bucknum, M.A., CCC-SLP

Noreen earned her Master's degree in speech-language pathology at Western Washington University and completed a year of postgraduate study in voice and motor control at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  She has worked in a variety of settings, including home-based early intervention, a school for children with psychiatric and emotional disabilities, and as Director of Speech and Literacy Coordinator at the Hearing, Speech and Deafness Center.  Currently, Noreen works part-time in the public schools and part-time at CCC.  Her continuing education has covered a wide range of topics, including Prompt training, Hanen certification, American Sign Language and Cued Speech.  She has presented trainings and in-services on literacy to speech-language pathologists, preschool teachers, child care providers and parents.  Her clinical specialties include literacy, early intervention, phonological delays and autism.

 

 


Jill Krizan, M.S., CCC-SLP

Jill graduated with a Bachelor of Science (2006) in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Denver, and with a Master of Science (2009) from the University of Oregon in Communication Disorders and Sciences.  She has worked with children from infancy to 21 years of age in home-based, clinical, school, and hospital settings serving children with mild to severe communication disorders.  Jill has a strong interest in working with children with oral motor disorders, developmental delay, and autism. Jill is level one PROMPT trained.

Catherine A. Mace, M.S., CCC-SLP

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist

Cathy received her Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C.  She worked on Gallaudet’s campus at the Kendall Demonstration Elementary School before relocating to the state of Washington.  Cathy then worked for several years as a speech-language pathologist and deaf and hard of hearing specialist in the public school system, serving children of all ages using sign (ASL, SEE), Cued Speech, and auditory-oral methods.  Cathy also worked with the cochlear implant team at the Listen for Life Center at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle.  She then joined The Hearing, Speech and Deafness Center, in Seattle, focusing on early intervention services and aural (re)habilitation.  During her time at HSDC, she helped pilot 2 new preschool programs designed for children with hearing loss and speech-language delays.  Cathy’s continuing education has focused primarily in the area of aural (re)habilitation, however she also has PROMPT and Hanen training.  She is excited to bring her training and experience to CCC to support children and families on their own unique journey to communication success.

Nicole graduated with a Bachelor of Science (2007) in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Washington, and with a Master of Science (2010) in Speech Language Pathology from Eastern Washington University.  She has worked with children ages 1-21 in clinical, preschool, school, and hospital settings with a variety of communication disorders.  Before entering graduate school she worked as a speech language pathologist assistant, where her work there focused on aural (re) habilitation and early intervention.  Nicole has a strong interest in working with children in the areas of aural (re) habitation, early intervention, motor speech, language delay, and autism.

Mia Richkind, M.S., CFY-SLP

Mia graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Voice and Opera Theater (2002) from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Realizing her passion to work with children and families in early intervention, she returned to school to complete a post-baccalaureate program in Communication Disorders (2007) at California State University, Los Angeles. Mia worked as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant for 2 years in the public schools and in private practice before moving to Seattle for her graduate program. She completed a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (2011) from the University of Washington. Mia comes to CCC with experience working with both children and adults with motor speech, language, cognitive and voice impairments with a variety of diagnosis. She is passionate about working with children in the following areas: early intervention, expressive-receptive language delay/impairment, motor speech impairments, TBI, and voice. Mia values a child-directed therapy approach and opportunities for incorporating music in therapy whenever possible.

Jacqueline Brown, MA, CCC-SLP

Jackie received her degrees from Syracuse University and The George Washington University and has been a practicing speech language pathologist for 30 years.  Currently, she is the director at RiteCare, where she has been emplyed since 1985.  Jackie works with CCC in the evenings and on weekends. 

 

 

Children’s Communication Corner, Inc. is a small pediatric clinic providing in-office and in-home pediatric services. The client base is fun, exciting, and varied with children and adolescents ages birth to adolescence presenting with speech, motor speech, expressive and receptive language, learning, ASD and social communication/interaction needs.

 

We are accept speech, OT, and PT resumes on an ongoing basis from fun, self-motivated, independent, and organized clinicians who are open to working in a variety of settings and with a variety of clients. Hours are flexible.  For SLP's, PROMPT training or willingness to go through training is required. For OT's, interest and experience with sensory integration is required.
